Ideally wounds should be assessed ASAP by a veterinarian. This is especially the case if the wound has been caused by a dog fight or if the wound is bleeding. If the wound is bleeding, you should apply pressure with a clean cloth to the area during transport. Very small wounds can be bathed with salty water (1 teaspoon salt to 600ml of water). Dettol should not be applied to wounds.
