The Animal Emergency Centre in Hallam was purchased in June 2007. Prior to this it operated from the same site as South Eastern Animal Emergency Centre (SEAEC). Many of the staff of SEAEC now work at Hallam AEC and the practice has adopted the principles, procedures and protocols of the first AEC clinic, started in Mount Waverley over 30 years ago.
AEC Hallam is a caring extension of your family vet. We are designed to provide the finest and most progressive medical and surgical emergency services for your pet. We are open 24 hours a day 365 days a year so you can always contact us when your vet closes in the evening, on weekends and holidays, to ensure your pet can receive care at any time. We are also available for overnight referrals of patients requiring advanced 24 hour monitoring and care in our intensive care unit.
Visits
We fully understand that separation from your pet is difficult. In most cases, it is in the patients’ best interests to have short, daily visits from their owners. Please ask the veterinarian or nurses attending your pet if you would like to visit and we will do our best to organise a mutually suitable time. In the interests of providing the best possible service to all animals in the hospital, we cannot allow extended or frequent visits, particularly in busy periods.
Costs & Payment
Unlike some human emergency services, the AEC receives no government subsidies. Our clinics are entirely funded by the income we generate and our fees are carefully set to ensure that we can provide all of the necessary resources to provide for the needs of distressed animals.
The Animal Emergency Centre accepts most payment options including cash, Visa, Mastercard and Amex. We do not accept Diners Club Card.
At the time of consultation, you will be given an estimate of the expected costs of your pets treatment. We require a deposit of a minimum of 50% of the estimated cost prior to admission for all hospitalised patients. Further deposits may be requested for patients staying greater than 24 hours. Accounts must be finalised on discharge of your pet.
